What is a charge?
Products and special fees
Section titled “Products and special fees”Each line of an invoice is associated with a product type or a special fee type.
By product, we mean a physical good or a service. Special fees cover everything that doesn’t fall into this category, such as collection or delivery fees — fees that are not necessarily subject to the same taxation as a product.
The concept of a charge in ProAbono
Section titled “The concept of a charge in ProAbono”In ProAbono, the term charge refers to products, services, and special fees alike. This term therefore encompasses all billable lines, regardless of their nature.
This concept also applies to customer balance lines: any line added to the balance is likewise linked to a charge.
The charge type
Section titled “The charge type”A charge type defines the precise nature of a product, a service, or a special fee. This is a key concept, as it determines the applicable tax rate for each line.
Each charge in ProAbono is therefore linked either to a general charge family or to a more specific charge type — two concepts detailed in the next article: Charge families and specific charge types.
